John Simmons

Senior Advisor

John is a retired Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and retired partner emeritus at Austin-based Ovation Partners. At Morgan Stanley, he headed business development for Alternative Investment Partners and served on AIP’s executive committee. AIP managed more than $20 billion in private equity, hedge funds, and real estate during John’s tenure. At Ovation, John helped grow the firm from $50 million to over $750 million AUM between 2014 and 2021. He began his career as an engineer for the Electricity Management division of Schlumberger Industries. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

John currently serves on the board of the Crested Butte Land Trust and is a past president. His previous board service includes the Georgia Tech Advisory Board, Gunnison Tough to Wear Pink, and the Yellowstone Park Foundation Advisory Board.
